Spinner Cable Clamps: How to choose the right one for your application?
The importance of a smooth transition from cable/copper to the connector is not to be underestimated. It is something that can make or break your entire system as incorrectly installed connectors or a wrong choice of connection type ensure that the desired specification is not met. In this article we show you how to determine which SPINNER cable clamp suits your next project best.
For a start we add high value to the way a connector is used in the field and strive to make it as easy as possible while bringing the cost down to a minimum. After all, the real cost of a connector includes all direct and indirect expenses to install it. Therefore you should look for a balance between fast, reliable installation without the need for expensive tooling.
At times the decision for one cable clamp or another depends on the situation or type of cable used. In harsh environments (high humidity, contamination, etcetera) the sealing is important whereas in other situations quick installation is priority. SPINNER cable clamps only differ in how they are installed, sealed and the degree of flexibility they offer for attachment to different kinds of cables. Below image gives an overview of the most popular cable terminations:
Above: For helical corrugated cables, below: for annular corrugated cables
SPINNER MultiFit®
The SPINNER MultiFit® connectors are the most versatile type and popular because of their quick (in less than 2 minutes) and secure installed on any commercially available cable type in two simple steps.
For helical corrugated SF cables
Screw the specially shaped gasked onto the outer conductor
Screw the back-nut onto the profile gasket.
For annular corrugated LF cables
Push an O-ring onto the outer conductor so that it is sealed
Then place the SPINNER MultiFit® connector on top of it and lock it to the outer conductor.
SPINNER MultiFit® connectors are available in 7-16, 4.3-10 and N versions for all commercially available SF and LF cables.

SPINNER CAF®
SPINNER CAF® cable clamps that offer easy installation in a single step and on top of that provide very effective protection against moisture and soiling. It typically takes less than two minutes to install them, since each connector is supplied as a single piece and only needs to be attached to the appropriately prepared cable end. Two systems are available for sealing our SPINNER CAF® connectors:
For helical corrugated SF cables
Take the cable end and place the SPINNER CAF® connector onto it with its specially shaped profile gasket for best results.
For annular corrugated LF cables
Create an airtight seal by pushing the O-ring onto the outer conductor.
Slide the SPINNER CAF® connector on and tighten it.

SPINNER CAF® connectors are available in 7-16, 4.3-10 and N versions for our popular SF and LF SpinnerFlex® LF cables.
SPINNER CAF® Plast2000
SPINNER CAF® Plast2000 connectors are exclusively for LF cables with annular corrugated copper outer conductor. These cable clamps are especially well-suited for extremely harsh environmental conditions. In this model, the cable clamp is completely filled by injecting SPINNER Plast2000 sealing compound to rule out any chance of moisture, sand etc. penetrating into the connector. This reliably prevents internal corrosion and ensures superb electrical and mechanical performance for decades.
SPINNER CAF® Plast2000 connectors are available in 7-16, 4.3-10 and N versions for our popular SpinnerFlex® LF cable series.
SPINNER and Heynen always recommend the use of tooling like cutting/trimming tools, torque wrenches and Plast 2000 paste for the best installation results. See the pictures on the bottom of the page for an impression.
For maximum comfort and security, there is an option to order ready-made jumper cables. These assemblies can be completely customized in terms of size, connnector types (input/output) and even made CPR-compliant if needed. Thanks to the streamlined production they can be delivered on very short term. Ask our team for conditions.
