MK31 Reed sensor, new ultra miniature serie
Standex Electronics has added a new serie to their family of SMD reed sensors, the MK31.
The MK31 is together with the MK24 the smallest in size with an excellant performamce. The size is approximaltely 20% smaller than the competition and is measuring only 6,4 x 0.95 x 2.2.
The activation area of this sensor is in the middle of the housing due to an a-symetrical placement within the package. This makes it easier to create a simpler mechanical design by putting the magnet above the middle of the sensor.
In this way it makes the design of portable devices, handhelds and wearables smaller than before.
Reed sensors do not have wearing parts and is environmentally rugged inside and out. Inside this sensor is a hermetically sealed reed switch. On the outside, the reed switch is over-molded with an extremely durable thermoset plastic.
Since the reed switch is embedded in a glass housing it can be used in environments which are harsch or need ATEX certification.
